In order for you to know what female infertility treatment is right for you, you should know what female or male infertility means. You should also know the causes and the various treatments available so you can choose what is right for you.

Having to conceive a child would be a dream come true for most couples. There are a lot of couples that have been blessed with children. But there are those who are seemingly unlucky and have difficulties in getting pregnant. Infertility is most of the time associated with women than men.

Infertility is defined to be an unsuccessful conception for a whole year of trying to get pregnant which means having unprotected sexual intercourse. A couple should no fret when they fail in trying to get pregnant even for a couple of months. But if they are still unsuccessful for a year or over they should consult a fertility doctor and run tests. A series of comprehensive medical tests will be undertaken by the couple. It includes semen analysis, ovulations tests, laparoscopy to determine if a woman has pelvic adhesions or endometriosis and taking pregnancy and menstrual histories. These medical examinations will help verify the causes and factors of infertility to about 70 to 85 percent of couples.

Female infertility has many factors and causes. This includes ovarian dysfunction, fibroids or abnormalities in the uterus, hormonal imbalance, thyroid problems, tissue scars from past surgeries, low sperm count of the partner and sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s). Forty percent of all the cases of infertility is associated with female infertility, the other forty percent is with male infertility and the remaining 20 percent is from undetermined causes.

Knowing the cause of infertility can help you derive in a decision in what female infertility treatment to undertake. You need to discuss and consult a fertility doctor to know what female infertility treatment is right for you. Nowadays there is a big advancement in assisted reproductive technology. ART (assisted reproductive technology) uses fertility drugs or hormonal therapy together with various artificial insemination techniques.

Fertility drugs are used as female infertility treatment as these drugs will let the ovaries to produce more eggs. These hormonal therapy drugs will help stimulate ovulation and produce more eggs which increase the chances of fertilization. Artificial insemination techniques such as intrauterine insemination (IUI), in vitro fertilization (IVF), zygote intrafallopian transfer (ZIFT), egg (oocyte) donation and gamete intrafallopian transfer (GIFT) are also done to increase the chances of pregnancy. Discuss with a fertility doctor about these methods and see if which of these female infertility treatments will work for you.

It is very important to know the physical examination results and the medical history of a couple if you are looking for cure for infertility. Tests can be taken to know the cause of infertility or help in modifying the methods of conception.

These tests usually aids cure for infertility problems. The tests include semen analysis. In semen analysis men should have a complete abstinence of sexual intercourse within two to three days. After which, sperm is being collected and tested in the laboratory to know the sperms’ motility, shape, swimming speed, sperm count, the semen volume and semen viscosity.

Another test is by taking the basal body temperature of a woman. This is done usually to monitor the ovulation. The body’s temperature is being monitored and charted everyday at the same time, usually in the morning before going out to bed. Charting the BBT for a few months will show a pattern on with the rise in temperature about 0.4-1.0 Fahrenheit. This will pinpoint the time that a woman is ovulating and the time that she is most fertile. Sexual intercourse should be done every day at this point to increase the chances of becoming pregnant.

Cervical mucus monitoring is also done to pinpoint the time of ovulation. A woman is fertile when the mucus is stretchy, slimy and clear. Predicting ovulation can also be done by using an ovulation predictor kit which is available in many local pharmacies. Luteinizing hormones in the urine is measured to predict ovulation.

PCT or postcoital testing is done to gauge the contact of the sperm in cervical mucus. In this method the cervical mucus is gathered after having intercourse within two to eight hours. Another test is to do a biopsy on a woman’s uterine lining. This is usually done to detect and treat endometriosis which is a common cause of infertility amongst women. Men’s testicles can also be tested for varicoceles. In this condition the veins in the scrotum are enlarged draining the testicles. This is the most common cause of infertility amongst men. Serum progesterone is also measured through blood tests.

Other tests which can help find a cure for infertility include Progestin challenge (which is done when there is an absence of ovulation in women), determining serum hormonal levels by one or both the couples by blood sampling, Laparoscopy procedure to see directly into the pelvic cavity. HSG or Hysterosalpingography is done to see the sperm travel from the cervix to the fallopian tubes and uterus. Pelvic exam is done to detect if there are cysts growth. These tests enable the doctors to diagnose the cause fertility problems and help find a cure for infertility.

When a couple finds out that they are infertile, there are several options still available to them to fulfill their dreams of holding a precious newborn baby in their arms. Very often the only thing that stands in their way of becoming parents is money.

There are several different fertility treatments available to couples but the costs are very expensive. In-vitro fertilization is a very effective option but just one in-vitro treatment can run into the tens of thousands of dollars. Most likely it will take more then one treatment to become pregnant. Also some fertility medications can cost around $1,000 a month and some assisted reproductive technology procedures cost over $4,000.

Many couples can not afford to finance fertility treatments on their own. Luckily there is supplemental infertility insurance for couples that will give them the treatments they need without going bankrupt. It usually is very affordable and you can usually get it from your existing insurance company although each policy is very different so the couple really needs to look around before they buy into one.

For a monthly premium, insurance providers will supply you with a plan that will cover a range of fertility treatments. These treatments usually include diagnostic fertility tests, artificial insemination, and other types of assisted reproductive technology. They may also cover diagnostic test procedures, including laparoscopic surgery.

Normally, infertility insurance plans cover the most inexpensive treatment that will most likely work for the couple. They most likely will also only cover treatments for a certain number of cycles, usually between three and five. But, the use of donor eggs and donor sperm is not normally covered by infertility insurance.
There are three different types of infertility insurance.

First there is standard health insurance. This type of insurance requires that you pay a monthly premium in exchange for specific fertility coverage. There are also refund programs. Refund programs require you to pay upfront for your fertility treatments. If the couple does not have a baby then between 70% and 100% of the money is paid back to them. The other type of infertility insurance is financing. The couple can take out a loan to cover the infertility procedures. If they do not have a baby, these loans do not need to be paid back in full.

Unfortunately, not every couple is able to get infertility insurance. It varies from insurer to insurer but there are certain qualifications that you have to meet before being approved for infertility insurance. These qualifications usually require the couple to already hold an existing insurance policy. They may also have to be under the age of forty. They may also have to be struggling with infertility problems for one to five years. The couple then must hold on to the policy usually for a year before they can use it.

Although there are a lot of variables for the couple to look into and there are certain requirements that need to be met, overall getting infertility insurance for a couple who has been dealing with infertility is a wonderful idea. After the treatments are successful, the couple is going to need money in order to provide for their new born. With infertility insurance, couples are able to become pregnant without breaking the bank.

Couples who are going through infertility problems often feel alone in their struggle. They see other people with their babies and wonder why it’s not them. They forget that there are other people in the world that are going through the same things they are going through.

There are about 7.3 million women in this country alone between the ages of 15 and 44 who have an impaired ability to have children. Many of these women don’t even know that they have a problem until they try to start a family

Some women have gotten pregnant with issues like polycystic ovarian syndrome and the diagnosis didn’t come until after they had kids. But, most often this is not the case. There are many other couples who have gone through fertility treatments. Often when seeing the happy couples with their babies, infertile couples do not contemplate whether that parent had to receive some sort of infertility treatment in order to conceive.

In 2002 11.9% or 7.3 million women between the ages of 15 and 44 years of age have received some sort of infertility services. 6.1% have received professional advice. 5.5% of women have received some sort of medical help to prevent a miscarriage. 4.8% have undergone a fertility test. 3.8% of women have received ovulation drugs. And 1.1% of women have received artificial insemination. 11.8% of women between the ages of 15 and 44 years of age have impaired fecundity which means they not only have problems getting pregnant, they have problems carrying a baby to term.

It is commonly known that as women age their ability to become pregnant decreases with the loss of their eggs. In fact, the percent of childless women who have ever received any infertility service between the ages of 35 and 39 years of age is 15.2%. Childless women who have received any infertility service between the ages of 30 and 34 years of ages was 17.3% and women between the ages of 15 and 29 was only 2.9%.

The percent of married childless women between the ages of 15 and 44 years of age are infertile by these ages. 27.4% of women are infertile by the ages of 40 and 44. 22.6% of women are infertile by 35 and 39 years of age. 16.9% of women are infertile by the ages of 30 and 34. And 11% of married women are infertile by the ages of 15 and 29.

But just because there are problems getting or maintaining a pregnancy, that does not mean that it is impossible. At age 31, the percentage of live births after undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF) which is a very affective fertility treatment was about 38%. By age 39, the percentage of live births was around 22%. But after age 43, the percentage of live births drops to less than 10%. Women have also used an egg donor.

Even though IVF success was less than 10% at age 40 using the mother’s own eggs, women who used an egg donor from a much younger women had a success rate of about 45%. It is an even better rate than women using their own eggs in their early 30s.

Many women deal with some sort of infertility. Many women show symptoms of infertility and other women do not know there is a problem until they start trying to conceive. With the many different types of infertility, the signs and symptoms range from women to women or can even affect the man in the relationship.

A woman should see their doctor if they have not become pregnant even though they are trying. “Trying” means one to two years of unprotected intercourse on an average of three times a week. The couple should see first their primary care physician or their regular OBGYN in order to diagnose a fertility problem. They may then be referred to a specialist. Among the many possible signs of infertility, the most common for women is an irregular menstrual cycle.

Although an irregular menstrual cycle may be one of the signs of infertility, it could also point to a lot of things and does not necessarily mean that the woman is infertile. Another sign of infertility can be a weight problem in regards to a women being to thin or obese. Some women who are too thin and bordering on emaciation can have a problem conceiving because they lack the proper nutrients.

On the other hand, women who are obese sometimes suffer from hormonal problems, which in turn may affect their reproductive system. Substance and alcohol abuse can also lead to infertility. Although these are causes of infertility rather then signs of infertility because they can make a woman unable to conceive. Women who frequently use illegal drugs and other substances can harm their bodies affecting the way it works. They are likely candidates of being unable to produce children because substances and alcohol abuse can and may discourage the proper growth and conception of fetuses.

Signs of infertility can also be apparent in the man. Anatomic or physical problems may be signs of infertility in men. Undescended testicles can be a factor of infertility. Sometimes a sign of infertility in men is due to an outside cause. Men who wear tight underwear or jeans may have an inability to produce viable sperm for conception. Exposure to heat on their scrotum and gonads can also lead to an inability to produce children.

Some of the signs of infertility in women and men are the same. Both men and women can have an inability to produce offspring through weight problems like obesity or due to substance abuse. In the same way a women’s body can malfunction in a way that may not hold a pregnancy, a man might be affected because they may not be able to produce the right amount or form of sperm to conceive.

If a couple has been trying to get pregnant with no results, rather then jumping to the conclusion of infertility, the couple should take steps to make sure they are having intercourse when the woman is ovulating. The woman can track her basal body temperature or use an ovulation kit to see when she is ovulating. Often times, the couple is just not having intercourse around the right time of the month.

Have you ever considered what the primary signs of infertility in a human being are? We should be aware of the indications of infertility and that too, as early as possible. Signs of infertility can become apparent in several ways, including instinctive and cultural factors, irregular behavior of individuals while having a sexual union, malnutrition, a depressed mental condition, endocrinology factors, and the current health condition of persons. The overall general lifestyle, emotional quotients, financial issues as well as time represent pointers to infertility as well. In this context, it is important to distinguish between infertility and impotency. The factors mentioned above can result in infertility in a man or a lady, in case any of the former stops working normally.

In cases where a male has full potency, his female partner can become pregnant during the menstruation cycle of the latter. However, not many are aware that men too have hormonal cycles. What’s more, while the cycle of ladies cover a 28-day period, a fixed tab cannot be put on the male cycle. Researches show that the quality of the male sperm can go down, not at all matching with his hormone cycle, although he can release sperms whenever he wishes to do so. The lower sperm quality, in turn, has a negative impact on a man’s fertility, and can diminish his ability to impregnate. Signs of infertility, in both men and women, can become more apparent with advancement of their age.

Discourses on the many signs of infertility can often be confusing. Here, we would be discussing these issues in a clearer manner. Fertility of humans is not our focus here. In females, the single most important sign of her being infertile is an irregular pattern of her periods. However, it has to be kept in mind that, while irregular menstrual cycles do indicate infertility, they can also act as signs of other health hazards.

If a lady does not have the ideally correct body weight, her fertility is likely to go down. Infertility can be a problem faced by both overweight as well as grossly underweight women. The fetus needs to be nursed properly during pregnancy. If the hip region of a woman is too narrow, this task becomes difficult, and her ability to conceive babies suffers. The balance of hormones can also receive a jolt in case a proper nutrition-rich diet is not adopted. Obesity can also stand in the way of maintenance of the correct hormone balance. As a result, their ability to reproduce can suffer. If a lady is in the habit of drinking too much, she can also become infertile, for a considerable length of time too. Thus, in order to maintain her fertility, alcohol-consumption needs to be eliminated totally. However, this infertility has nothing to do with the barrenness of a lady.

Doctors point out several other common signs of infertility. For example, if the ovary of a lady is twisted, conceiving a baby becomes very tough for her. For women to become pregnant, the male sperm has to travel through her body and enter her ovary. In case the female ovary is positioned at a wrong position, this procedure is not possible. As a result, for all practical purposes, the lady becomes infertile. Any cysts that are present in the ovary can also prevent a woman from getting pregnant.

On the other hand, guessing which man is infertile is tricky. While a rather weak-looking guy can become a parent whenever he has an intercourse with a lady, an apparently strong, tough person can have an unfavorable rate of mortality and/or a low sperm count. However, in general, the level of fertility goes down as a man becomes more and more obese. Problems in the general health of males and/or his anatomy can also bring down his virility. Fertility falls with the advancing years too.

Andropause (or, the process of menopause in males) results in easy detection of the signs of infertility. The indications of infertility in men include:

Losing hair on a regular basis,

Gaining too much fat in the abdominal parts, and an increase in general body weight,

Wrinkles and dryness of the skin,

A fall in the male libido levels,

Excess stress,

Problems in having an erection,

Too much sweat as well as hot flushes,

A disturbed and nervous state of mind, with constant bouts of anxiety,

An feeling of unwillingness and a marked lack of motivation, and

A depressed mental state.

Fortunately, these signs of infertility can be eliminated if holistic methods of treatment are adopted. Unlike other conventional treatment methods, holistic approaches aim to detect the actual causes of the problem, and then suggest remedies accordingly. And these treatments also do not have any adverse side effects. Holistic methods recommend extensive usage of Chinese medicines, herbs and acupuncture. Proper exercises as well as a balanced diet are also prescribed. It has indeed been proven that holistic methods have a much higher success rate in helping people recover their fertility, than other conventional techniques.

Both men and women suffer from infertility caused by various reasons. However, it’s important for both the sex to undergo treatment for this complicated issue. Various known and unknown factors cause infertility in women. These include diseases like endometriosis, diminished ovarian reserve, ovulation disorders, and low progesterone level. Low sperm count and low sperm motility, STD, injury or chronic diseases, sperm blockage and ageing are some of the reasons men for, which suffer.

Scheduled drugs and systematic treatment can cure most of the above mentioned infertility problems except ageing and chronic diseases, although these treatments are quite expensive and may have harmful side effects. Additional treatment may be required to cure the side effects. Treatments conducted through IVF or In Vitro Fertilization and ICSI or Intracytoplasmic Sperm Injection is best among the other methods of infertility treatment. In this technique, the egg cells outside the womb are fertilized by the sperm and then transferred inside. This treatment is suggested when other techniques fail to give results. This technique is a hormonally controlled ovulation progression. In this treatment involves, the ova is removed from the female’s ovaries and helps the sperm to fertilize in a fluid medium. But this is not a normal process at all and involves excavation of the eggs from the ovary, fertilizing them in an outside laboratory and putting them back in the uterus. In the normal process, the human decides to pick the healthiest sperm for reproducing the egg but in the artificial process, the embryologist takes this decision. However, when he fails to pick the healthiest sperm and egg, it may cause the ill health of the child during birth and even later in life.

Some alternative techniques with a holistic approach are fast becoming popular in order to cure the problem of secondary infertility. These techniques are all the more preferred by people as these have less or no side effects at all.

The acupuncture method, for example, especially ear acupuncture or Auricular is very effective in cases where female infertility has been caused by some kind of malfunction of the ovary. The hormonal message that is transferred from brain to ovary is the most beneficial result received from this technique. In accordance to the investigative trials, those women who have received acupuncture treatment for about 30 times within a time period of 3 months have shown good results. Those female who underwent hormonal therapy along with it suffered from side effects.

In the alternative treatment techniques, diet and lifestyle changes are given a lot of importance. Regular intake of such things that contain caffeine like coffee, chocolate, cocoa, green tea (containing caffeine), black tea and colored soft drinks which has harmful effects on conception is discouraged. According to a study, one and a half cup of coffee for a woman who is trying for pregnancy is sure to delay her conception. Thus coffee is a strictly a no-no for patients suffering from infertility.

Diets that include fish contaminated with PCB or Polychlorinated Biphenyls are also believed to be a cause for substantial reduction in the ability to become pregnant. According to one study, women who had more than one meal containing fish contaminated with PCBs (procured from Lake Ontario), developed reduced fecundity within a month.

The best result for the treatment of infertility has been reported through the Chinese medicines, acupuncture and of course, the holistic approach. The holistic approach reaches to the depth of the problem and only then delivers physical, spiritual as well as emotional treatment, rather than only investigating the organs. On the other side, the conventional approach to the problem of infertility fails to successfully detect and remove the real causes and moreover, causes side effects. The holistic approach suggests a natural remedy and a way of life that can really solve the problem as soon as the real cause is determined.
