Many women deal with some sort of infertility. Many women show symptoms of infertility and other women do not know there is a problem until they start trying to conceive. With the many different types of infertility, the signs and symptoms range from women to women or can even affect the man in the relationship.

A woman should see their doctor if they have not become pregnant even though they are trying. “Trying” means one to two years of unprotected intercourse on an average of three times a week. The couple should see first their primary care physician or their regular OBGYN in order to diagnose a fertility problem. They may then be referred to a specialist. Among the many possible signs of infertility, the most common for women is an irregular menstrual cycle.

Although an irregular menstrual cycle may be one of the signs of infertility, it could also point to a lot of things and does not necessarily mean that the woman is infertile. Another sign of infertility can be a weight problem in regards to a women being to thin or obese. Some women who are too thin and bordering on emaciation can have a problem conceiving because they lack the proper nutrients.

On the other hand, women who are obese sometimes suffer from hormonal problems, which in turn may affect their reproductive system. Substance and alcohol abuse can also lead to infertility. Although these are causes of infertility rather then signs of infertility because they can make a woman unable to conceive. Women who frequently use illegal drugs and other substances can harm their bodies affecting the way it works. They are likely candidates of being unable to produce children because substances and alcohol abuse can and may discourage the proper growth and conception of fetuses.

Signs of infertility can also be apparent in the man. Anatomic or physical problems may be signs of infertility in men. Undescended testicles can be a factor of infertility. Sometimes a sign of infertility in men is due to an outside cause. Men who wear tight underwear or jeans may have an inability to produce viable sperm for conception. Exposure to heat on their scrotum and gonads can also lead to an inability to produce children.

Some of the signs of infertility in women and men are the same. Both men and women can have an inability to produce offspring through weight problems like obesity or due to substance abuse. In the same way a women’s body can malfunction in a way that may not hold a pregnancy, a man might be affected because they may not be able to produce the right amount or form of sperm to conceive.

If a couple has been trying to get pregnant with no results, rather then jumping to the conclusion of infertility, the couple should take steps to make sure they are having intercourse when the woman is ovulating. The woman can track her basal body temperature or use an ovulation kit to see when she is ovulating. Often times, the couple is just not having intercourse around the right time of the month.

A healthy pregnancy is normal. A healthy woman can usually enjoy a healthy pregnancy. A healthy pregnancy also refers to the health of the developing fetus. there are many things a woman can do and not do to increase the chances for a healthy pregnancy. The first thing a woman should do is think about her health before she conceives a child. Excellent diet, good, regular exercise, minimal stress, abstinence from certain substances like cigarettes, recreational drugs and alcohol, and certain supplements in order to be proactive against various birth defects.

Every woman, and every person in fact should concern themselves with being healthy, but it is of particular importance for a woman considering pregnancy to pay attention to aspects of her health so she can have a healthy pregnancy. Every day, there are new discoveries about birth defect prevention. But it is well established now that sufficient folic acid is important for a healthy pregnancy outcome. There has been evidence that low levels of folic acid can contribute to certain neural tube defects. Folic acid for a healthy pregnancy is something that is proven to be good for women to get enough of, beginning, preferably before conception.

A healthy diet is important for everyone, but it is extra important for a healthy pregnancy. Plenty of the right balance of healthy foods contributes to healthy growth of the baby during pregnancy. It is not necessary for a woman to overeat to achieve a healthy pregnancy. On the contrary, only about 350 additional calories per day of the right foods, along with certain supplements creates the right diet for a healthy pregnancy for most women. Of course, it is essential to check with your health care provider to be sure that you don’t have any special circumstances that require a special diet in order for you to have a healthy pregnancy.

Exercise is also an important aspect to a healthy exercise. If you health care provider gives you the go ahead to continue any regular exercise program you are used to, then, by all means, go ahead and continue. But be careful to get clearance for any new types of exercise during pregnancy from your health care provider before starting one. There are many classes in prenatal yoga which, with proper instruction might be the perfect exercise for you so you can maintain a healthy pregnancy. Prenatal yoga will help condition your mind and body for a healthy birth as well.

Lastly, stay away from certain things while you are pregnant so you can enjoy a healthy pregnancy, birth and baby…smoking, (first or second hand smoke) Smoking will most certainly interfere with a healthy pregnancy. Smoking is known to lead to premature births and low birth weights in babies so we know that smoking is not only unhealthy for mother, but unhealthy for unborn babies as well. Drugs and alcohol are also substances to be avoided if you want a healthy pregnancy. There are many negative side effects to mother and baby when exposed to these substances. And get adequate rest and try to remain as stress free as possible so you can allow your body to experience a healthy pregnancy.

It is normal and expected that women and couples would and should have pregnancy questions. Pregnancy questions include every topic and aspect of pregnancy. Pregnancy questions come up before during and after pregnancy. Pregnancy questions are thought about and answered as best as possible by many types of professionals in addition to women and their families.

Answers, or at least ideas about pregnancy questions are shared with the public and with other professionals by many means. And some pregnancy questions are never answered with absolutes. Sometimes the answers to some pregnancy questions remain a mystery.

From a woman’s perspective, some of the pregnancy questions she might have before becoming pregnant would be concerning the timing of a pregnancy and her health. These are two very critical areas of concern that should not be overlooked. The pre-pregnant health of a woman will have a strong influence on the well being of both herself and her unborn child. There are pregnancy questions that raise issues of diet, exercise and supplements that address the matter of a woman’s health before she gets pregnant. And if these pregnancy questions have not been considered prior to becoming pregnant, it is very important to address them as soon as the pregnancy is confirmed.

When the pregnancy questions about health come up, one of the first things that will be discussed is folic acid and its important role in preventing certain birth defects. This is why questions about health regarding mother and baby are very important because women can be pro-active in birth defect prevention.

Another wise pregnancy question to be contemplated by a woman before becoming pregnant is regarding whether or not it is the right time in her life to have a baby. She will want to ask herself questions about what kind of support she will have from her partner if there is a committed relationship involved. She might also want to think about her source of income and her insurance and consider whether she has both of these areas secured.

Now, all pregnancies are not planned so some other types of pregnancy questions will be concerning the possibility of pregnancy if there is a missed period. This pregnancy question can be easily answered with either the aid of a home pregnancy test or a visit to a family planning clinic or a woman’s primary health provider. It is important to answer this pregnancy question as soon as possible if a woman is suspicious that she might be pregnant.

Once a woman is pregnant, it is very normal to have lots of pregnancy questions…and they can mostly all be answered either by reading books on pregnancy, researching pregnancy questions on the internet or by discussing the pregnancy questions with the care provider who will be monitoring the pregnancy and possibly delivering the baby when the time comes. Pregnancy questions are good things to have and to answer so don’t be afraid to ask.

The last thing that a pregnant woman wants to do is to intentionally take pregnancy risks. But sometimes women do take pregnancy risks both inadvertently and intentionally. This happens for lots of reasons. Sometimes women take pregnancy risks due to addiction. Sometimes women take pregnancy risks due to lack of information. Sometimes women take pregnancy risks out of carelessness and sometimes pregnancy risks are forced upon women without there consent or control.

Some well known pregnancy risks involve the use of certain substances during pregnancy. Drinking alcohol and using drugs, both prescription and illegal drugs, are risky behaviors during pregnancy. Information about these pregnancy risks have been made very public in recent years. But for some women who indulge in the use of drugs and alcohol before pregnancy find it very hard and sometimes impossible to refrain from that use during pregnancy, thus creating serious pregnancy risks for herself and her unborn child. Some of the consequences of these pregnancy risks are miscarriage, pre-term labor, low birth weight of baby, and birth defects, including fetal alcohol syndrome or effect, both of which are completely preventable if the pregnant woman refuses to expose her baby to alcohol and not take this pregnancy risks.

For some women gestational diabetes is an issue and for them, not paying close attention to blood sugar levels and not sticking to prescribed diets become pregnancy risks. This is another area where, if the woman is conscientious, the pregnancy risks can be greatly reduced. Another area of avoidable pregnancy risks is accessing regular pre-natal care and monitoring during pregnancy. The pregnancy risks here is if there is a lack of pre-natal care, certain complications can go unnoticed and negative consequences can occur. It is very important to maintain a regular schedule of pre-natal check ups. By doing this, a woman is reducing her chances for allowing problems that might come up from escalating and causing further problems.

Second hand smoke is a terrible pregnancy risks that, for some women seems unavoidable. Even if she was a smoker and quit for the sake of her health and the health of her baby, she may have a partner or household member who refuses to limit their smoking to areas away from the pregnant woman. This is both inconsiderate and irresponsible. Everyone near a pregnant woman should be concerned enough about her well being to refrain from smoking in her vicinity. This is only common courtesy and responsible behavior that one should expect from our fellow man.

Unprotected sex with multiple partners at any time is a health risk and if pregnant, a pregnancy risk. If a pregnant woman is not in a committed relationship and/or marriage, she should always practice safe sex. There are certain STD’s that can be devastating to a baby. If the pregnant woman contracts one of these and it goes undetected, during the birth of the baby, this STD can cause blindness or even be fatal so this is another pregnancy risks that can be completely avoided if the pregnant woman takes steps to protect herself and her child.

As a matter for consideration, prior to getting pregnant, there are some important things to do in order for your body to be in its best health for preparation before conception. And conception is the very first pregnancy stage. But before conception and the early stage of pregnancy, the woman’s body must ovulate. When the ripened egg is released by the ovary, it travels through the fallopian tube where it will be penetrated by the sperm and become fertilized. This is conception.

After this initial stage of pregnancy, post ovulation, the Carnegie stages of pregnancy begin. During the first nine weeks of pregnancy all the essential organs and systems of the fetus form, but are not yet able to sustain independent life. The 23 Carnegie Stages of pregnancy describe the internal and external physical characteristics of the embryo during this stage of pregnancy or what is also referred to as the first trimester.

The second trimester or next stage of pregnancy is when the organs and systems continue to develop. The second stage of pregnancy technically begins in week 13. During this stage of pregnancy, the woman usually begins to feel the baby’s movement and starts growing around the middle so that she will need to start wearing maternity clothing. Entering this stage of pregnancy, most fears of miscarriage dissipate and so do many of the earlier symptoms of nausea and fatigue. This stage of pregnancy is generally the most enjoyable. The size of the fetus doesn’t weigh to heavily on the woman’s body so backache and sleep disturbance are rarely issues. And generally, women have lots of energy and feel really good during the second trimester or stage of pregnancy.

The third and final stage of pregnancy, or third trimester, weeks 27 until birth, can start to be more draining. This is the home stretch and a time when a woman begins to prepare for the birth of her baby. Along with the physical changes that are going on, this stage of pregnancy will usually include enrollment in childbirth preparation classes, reading about birth and breast feeding and even packing a bag for the hospital if that is where the birth will take place. If a home birth is planned, then preparations for that need to take place, renting or buying supplies that might include a tub for a water birth. During this last stage of pregnancy, fatigue may become an issue and lots of pressure on the bladder. Also, the uterus will begin preparing for the birth and the woman may be aware of Braxton Hicks contractions, or what are sometimes referred to as false labor. These contractions can be quite strong, but are usually not experienced in any pattern that would indicate real labor.

Finally, the last stage of pregnancy is the birth itself. Throughout pregnancy and labor, it is always important to keep your healthcare provider informed of any changes or concerns you might experience so that she can assess the situation.

There are early symptoms of pregnancy and there are symptoms of pregnancy that occur throughout the duration of the pregnancy. And there are still other symptoms of pregnancy that manifest periodically or not at all. Some of the early symptoms of pregnancy are well known. Missing a period is the first clue to possible pregnancy and is the symptom that most women recognize right away.

Another symptom is commonly called “morning sickness”. This pregnancy symptom can range from a queazy feeling in the stomach to violent nausea and vomiting. This pregnancy symptom occurs usually during the first and early second trimesters. Nausea and vomiting of pregnancy (NVP) occurs in approximately 75-80% of pregnant women. And although this pregnancy symptom is referred to as “morning sickness”, only about 17% of women experience the symptom only in the morning. It can be experienced during any time of the day or night.

Another early pregnancy symptom is tenderness and swelling of the breasts. This pregnancy symptom usually begins to occur one to two weeks after conception. At this same time, another pregnancy symptom that is often experienced is fatigue or tiredness. Pregnancy symptoms may also include headaches and backaches or the need for frequent urination. But it is important to remember that any of these symptoms may be caused by other conditions other than pregnancy so it is important to confirm a suspected pregnancy early so that if these symptoms are present and pregnancy is not, there may be other medical conditions that need to be diagnosed and treated.

If none of the early symptoms of pregnancy are noticed or present, then later in the pregnancy weight gain and thickening around the middle will be some symptoms of pregnancy that appear a little later on.
